Description

Our Homes, Our Communities, Our Future

Bolton’s story is one of drive, determination, and ambition; of a town built on aspiration and resilience. Bolton’s Vision 2030 sets out what we need to do to deliver a Bolton which future generations are proud to be part of.  In 2030, we want Bolton to be a vibrant place built on strong cohesive communities, successful businesses and healthy, engaged residents.  It will be a welcoming place where people choose to study, work, invest, put down roots, and a place that people call home.

Our new Assistant Director of Community Safety and Housing Services is a key post in our new structure, responsible for a wide range of services that will be central to delivering many of our core ambitions. You will ensure those that are the most vulnerable in our communities receive the support they need, deliver a wide portfolio of housing need services that are equitable and meets the evolving needs of our local population, and that the services within this portfolio contribute to the wellbeing of our residents, addressing inequalities and taking a preventative approach. You will be a key lead on behalf of the Council in all community safety initiatives in the borough enabling safe, strong and distinctive communities. Partnerships will be key, including Bolton Community Homes Partnership, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Greater Manchester Police, fire and rescue services, and colleagues across the Council, Voluntary and Community Sector and health. You will also sit on key partnership boards, bringing a strategic view but with a practical purpose and focus on outcomes and impact.

With experience in either community safety or housing, the ability to work in a complex environment will be crucial. Building strong partnerships and developing relationships will be central to the success of the role, working with an array of colleagues and partners internally and externally. You will be a collaborative leader, with a track record of making a difference to the lives of residents, and clear commitment to addressing inequality and safeguarding those that are vulnerable. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in a diverse borough with a proud sense of place and spirit that embraces people.
